Workshop Fluid density/Viscosity Theory and Experiment.   Participants 20 Students (Grades 5th and 6th) Teachers: 13, all available at the moment at school.

We presented three experiments regarding to the preparation of the well.   Our team explained all of the procedures in order to get the well ready to run a logging tool.
Topics:

1. Permeability, Theory and experiment, Tomas Morales
2. Fluid density/viscosity, Theory and experiment, Marco Santiago
3. Magnet, Theory and experiment, Arnoldo de la Cruz

After the Permeability workshop, we started with the Fluid density/viscosity experiment.

Since the oil flows into surface sometimes it can cause blowouts damaging the environment or hurting people, therefore a liquid - commonly named mud - is used to prevent blowouts. What are the characteristics of this mud?
is it just water? why is it heavier or has more DENSITY than water? Are there any liquids lighter than water? all this situations where explained to the children and then an experiment was run to show the difference between the density of oil - water - shampoo.

(See pictures)  It was fun for all of us.
