Influenza: The Common Virus That Can Kill

Each year brings a new influenza season, as certain as the calendar changes. Virus strains pop up and spread easily and quickly in epidemic waves and local outbreaks. The flu routinely kills 250,000 to 500,000 victims and sickens 3 to 5 million people each year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
