Where is your home?

Страница для печатиСтраница для печати

When I think about my home, I like to think about the reasons I would like to call it home. Is it a place? Is it the people in it? Or the events that have happened that bring the sense of home to my mind? I think it is all of the above.

I was born and raised in Colombia. I have family there and I visit very often. I moved to Boston 18 years ago, and this is the place where my home is. I felt in love in Boston, got my house, had my daughter, and met many people, at school and work, who have changed my life.  I love my home because it is the place I share with the people I love the most. I also like the spaces I have at my home… one of them is my small shop in the basement, where I have all my tools. I love building and creating projects. I have also all my Legos and robotic sets that I have collected over the years.

I have slowly introduced my daughter to some of the wonders of my shop, but most important, I have worked and learned with her in many projects, the same way I used to do with my father.

    And where is your home?

Claudia,

The picture of you and your daughter is beautiful.  I like all the reasons you listed that Boston feels like home for you. The most interesting one to me is that Boston is where you met your husband.  My husband and I met each other in Texas, but we eventually relocated to a few other spots. Now we're settled in my hometown, San Diego.  You make a good point, and that is that key moments in our life ground us to locations in deeper ways than we imagine.  This can work both positively and negatively.

Regardless, how wonderful to raise your family in such a great town!

Love

Thanks Love! I love Boston and all the wonderful things it has to offer. However, I have to confess that after reading many posts from different people about their wonderful homes, and places where they live, I am convinced that there are many wonderful places out there with as many great things as Boston.

This is so great! I would love to have a shop in my house one day... A place where I can create and make messes while creating! :) and also, someday, teach my children, like you have done.

Thanks Iryna! I do feel lucky, but you really can do projects with your kids anywhere. The most important part is really working together with them. :)
