In Saudi Arabia, SEED (Schlumberger Excellence in Educational Development) is a joint program between Schlumberger and our customer, Aramco Gulf Operations Company (AGOC). Through SEED, both companies provide outreach to the city of Al-Khafji, one of their operational bases. The relationship, by agreement for four years, calls for AGOC is to supply hardware, equipment and other necessary items, while Schlumberger volunteers provide maintenance and connectivity to local SEED schools.

On April 22, the Al Khafji Boys High School inaugurated a state-of-the-art SEED Lab, an e-learning facility which will enable as many as 500 Al Khafji students to tap into the expertise of Schlumberger scientists around the world while working on science projects. The students will also be able to use the Lab to share experiences and collaborate with other students in SEED network schools around the world. The high school, among the oldest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was selected for its academic record, location and facilities. A two-day school workshop followed the inauguration and introduced Al Khafji students to SEED projects and ways of learning.

Mr. Khaled Nouh, Vice President and General Manager Schlumberger Middle East commented, "Schlumberger is delighted to have worked together with Aramco (AGOC) in developing this impressive e-learning facility in Al Khafji. This initiative is part of the Schlumberger commitment to sharing knowledge and contributing to the communities in which it lives and works.”

“Schlumberger has operated in Saudi Arabia for more than 60 years and we employ more than 800 Saudi nationals in our worldwide network. Programs like SEED can help train future generations of Saudi scientists who will lead development of the oil and gas industry that drives Middle East economies," Mr. Nouh said.

Mr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Judaimi, President & CEO Aramco Gulf Operations Company (AGOC), said, “Aramco is committed to bringing educational excellence to the community and is pleased to have been able to join with Schlumberger in this exciting venture. Aramco shares the passion for science, technology and learning with youth celebrated in the Schlumberger SEED program."
